As Thanksgiving approaches this year, now more than ever it’s important to feel connected to the people we love. Lately, my mornings and evenings have been filled with FaceTimes and zoom calls catching up and connecting with family and friends. I recently purchased the Amazon Echo Show 8, a smart home display with Alexa and video calling, to make it a little easier to connect and also free up my phone. I definitely plan on putting this to good use, this holiday season!

Since the holiday season is looking a little different this year with travel restrictions and limits on how many people can gather at one time, it’s important to make the best decisions to keep everyone safe and healthy. Like a lot of people, I’ll be staying home this year and not traveling home for the holidays, so I figured I’d come up with some ideas on how to still feel close and connected to the ones I love, while remaining socially distant. Here are a few ideas I came up with!

5 Ways to Stay Connected This Thanksgiving, While Social Distancing

In the Kitchen

Master your favorite family recipes together and catch up on the latest family happenings on a zoom and/or video call.

At the Table

Get together with your family for around the table after dinner talk, via zoom and have everyone share what they’re thankful for.

Dining Alfresco

For those who are staying local and don’t have family where they live: Have a socially distance picnic in the park with friends.

Black Friday Shopping/Gift Giving

Have everyone in your family create Amazon lists and/or gift registries at their favorite stores and shop from the comfort of your own home!

Giving back

In lieu of a being physically present to feed the less fortunate drop off canned goods to your local food banks or make a monetary donation online ahead of the holiday.

However you choose to spend your Thanksgiving this year, please be safe and stay connected to the ones you love.

Happy Thanksgiving!
