My Fall Escape to Nobu Los Cabos

Nobu Hotel Los Cabos

After 7 months of not traveling further than 30 min (in traffic) from my house, last month I finally mustered up the courage to hop on a plane for a much needed quarantine escape, south of the border. I must admit I did take some coercing from my friend and COVID travel buddy Lea, but mask, face shield, and hazmat suit in tow, I hopped on a two hour flight to Cabo San Lucas.

From the moment I stepped off the plane I realized that they were handling COVID a little better than us. I literally couldn’t even walk into the airport from the jet bridge without having to walk through a tray of disinfectant. I even had my temperature taken and my hands involuntarily sprayed with hand sanitizer prior to exiting customs. If you know me, you’ll know that I definitely appreciated all of the extra precautions. After exiting the airport I was whisked away by a private car, to enjoy a 45 minute scenic ride to the NOBU hotel. You can book an airport transfer through the resort or on your own. I booked my private airport transfer through SJD Taxi. Upon arrival, I was greeted the friendly hotel staff who took my temperature and carried my luggage away to be disinfected.

I arrived at the NOBU Hotel Los Cabos and as I walked through the beautifully framed entrance, I was immediately transported into a tranquil Japanese design influenced oasis and I hadn’t even seen the room yet...

Fun Fact: The resort opened in April 2019 and designed to immerse Japanese design with Mexican hospitality.

The Room

The room was a 500 sqft deluxe double queen room with an amazing view of the Pacific ocean and the main pool. The room had everything I’d want in a hotel room from an Nespresso machine to remote controlled blackout curtains to a beautiful Japanese style wooden tub perfectly placed underneath a skylight window. (see my IG highlight for the full room tour)

The Amenities

The beautifully manicured hotel grounds with ocean views and zen gardens can be considered an amenity on their own, but that’s only the beginning. With three pools, many hot tubs, private cabanas, a swim up bar, a spa, and a gym, Nobu has something for everyone. And if all you feel like doing is relaxing, grab a book and lay back in on the beach hammocks!

The Food

With 4 restaurants, including NOBU and Malibu Farms, and 24-hour room service it’s hard to go hungry. From the poolside chips and guacamole to the in room breakfast spread to the grand finale dinner at NOBU, I thoroughly enjoyed every meal. Speaking of NOBU, be sure to make your dinner reservation upon arrival, due to the high demand.

Additional Need to Knows

  • Transportation off of the property must be arranged by the hotel, but you can catch an Uber back to the property.

  • Although the hotel is beach front the ocean is not swimmable.  You can hear the power of the waves crashing throughout the day. Get to close and the lifeguards will let you know!

  • The swim up room pools are connected to the main hotel pool. (good to know if you’re planning on booking one of these rooms)

  • If your celebrating a birthday or special occasion tell the hotel ahead of time and they have a nice treat waiting for you in your room ahead of time.

  • Hire a local photographer the capture your vacation memories. We hired a local photographer named Gianmarco and shot with him for about 4 hours!

I stayed at NOBU Los Cabos for 4 days and 3 nights and experienced hands down some of the best service I’ve had at a hotel. I’ll definitely be returning and if you act fast, TravelZoo is currently running a promotion for 3 nights for $749.
