Happy Cinco de Mayo! As someone who has a great appreciation for Mexican culture and food, I know that being home and not being able to go out to your favorite Mexican restaurant or bar for Margaritas may be hard, but that doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate at home! Have your own a Cinco de Mayo fiesta at home and enjoy some of my favorite Mexican inspired recipes!

Sparkling Spicy Margaritas

Sparkling Spicy Margarita

Ingredients:

  • 4 oz of simple syrup ( simple syrup recipe)

  • 4 oz of fresh squeezed lime juice

  • 1/2 large green jalapeno pepper, sliced thin

  • 3 & ½ oz of Tequila

  • ½ cup San Pellegrino or club soda

  • Sugar or salt for rim of glasses

  • Slices of lime for garnish

Directions:

  1. Pour all ingredients in shaker and shake well.

  2. Spread the sugar evenly onto a plate.

  3. Use one of the squeezed lime wedges to moisten the rim of your glasses.

  4. Then, place the glass upside down into the plate of sugar, making sure that the rim of the glass is coated with the sugar ( twist the glasses around in the sugar a few times to give a thicker sugar rim).

  5. Slice jalapenos and limes thinly and place aside ( take out the seeds to lessen the spice)

  6. Pour margarita over ice and add jalapenos

  7. Place additional limes in each glass.

Enjoy!
