Happy New Year! The holiday madness is finally over, we’ve said goodbye to the last decade and hello to a new one.. so what now? At the beginning of a new year there’s always a lot of pressure to make New Year’s resolutions, get back to the gym, and do everything that you didn’t do in the previous year. Often times that same pressure causes us to create unrealistic goals for ourselves that are nowhere in sight come late February to early March. So this year I decided to approach things a little differently.

During the first couple days of 2020, I took some time to be very intentional in my thinking about what I really needed and wanted personally, professionally and spiritually in this new year. One of the things that stood out the most is the impact I want to make on my professional, social, and personal relationships.

Here are the 5 things that will help set you up for success in the new year!

  1. Create a vision board - In this case seeing is believing. By having this visual reminder of what you want to accomplish. this year, you start to subconsciously manifest these things and it also serves as a form of accountability.

  2. Create realistic health and fitness goals - Be real with yourself and don’t over commit. It’s great to be ambitious but there’s nothing worse than letting yourself down. This year I decided to reset my diet and get back to cooking by doing the #JanuaryWhole30. Since I’ve done the Whole 30 before, I know that going without added sugar, grains, legumes, alcohol, and dairy is something that I can stick to for 30 days. Check out this post for recipes, rules, and tips on the Whole 30. Because I know I need a little variety in my life to keep things interesting, I also decided to sign up for ClassPass which allows me to have access to tons of fitness studios and classes all over LA.

  3. Get a planner - There’s no better time than at the beginning of the year to get organized and set your 30-60-90 goals!

  4. Deep clean your home - there’s nothing like a good deep clean to clear out the clutter and renew the energy in your space. Over the weekend I decided to pack away all of my Christmas decorations, re-organize my closet, and purge my home of all the things that no longer serve me. Let’s just say the Goodwill had a come up lol.

  5. Create a budget - Financial wellness is just as important as the physical. Create a realistic budget for yourself, plan out how to pay off your debt (assuming you have any) and make sure to put some money aside for the future! ( vacation, family, or otherwise) I use the Clarity Money app to help me with budgeting, saving, and monitoring my credit.
