4 Ways to Incorporate Your Travel Memories into Your Home Decor

There are certain places that you travel to, that just stick with you. For me, it’s Paris. I can’t believe it’s been almost 2 years since I strolled the Champs Elysees, marveled at the Eiffel Tower, and indulged in all of the meat, cheese, and wine I could have! From the museums, to the architecture, to the many black and white tiled cafes, I was basically in design heaven. And yes, I had a true “American Girl in Paris” (Sex and the City reference) moment when I saw the Eiffel Tower, for the first time. Exploring Paris with 3 of my close girl friends made this of my most memorable trips. (Read more about the trip here)

Just thinking about it makes me realize I need to book my next flight to Paris, very soon! Until then I can relive my trip by swiping through the 300+ photos I snapped on my trip and by simply looking around at the different ways I’ve incorporated aspects of my trip and Parisian style into my decor.

Here are 5 ways you can incorporate some of your favorite travel memories into your home decor.

  1. Print and frame your favorite travel photos

(seen above and below). I love being reminded of my trip to Paris every time I walk into my bathroom and look over at my photos on the wall. I also incorporated some photos and souveniers from my trip into the gallery wall next to my bed.

2. Incorporate colors that remind you of your favorite place or city into your home’s color palette.

Typical Parisian bathrooms use a lot black and white or dark and neutral colors with pops of gold, which inspired the colors used for my bathroom makeover, last April.

3. Style your bookshelves by putting your souvenirs and cultural artifacts on display.

4. Accent a room with a rug, throw, pillows, or hanging textile procured on your international journeys.
